23 Dec Jorie & Brian’s Wedding at Merrimon-Wynne
As Christmas approaches and we look forward to the New Year, we find ourselves reminiscing on the beautiful weddings we were incredibly lucky enough to have been a part of this fall season.
On Oct. 18, Jorie and Brian said I do during a romantic ceremony on the lawn of The Merrimon-Wynne House in downtown Raleigh. Aren’t they a stunning couple?!
While the newlyweds stole away for photographs, their guests were welcomed into the house for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Our team served up our “Southern Devil” Eggs with Salmon Roe, Low Country Mini Crab Cakes and our signature Mini Chicken & Waffles – a Southern combination of deliciousness loved by all!
After an hour of socializing and noshing, Jorie and Brian’s loved ones headed outside to the beautifully decorated tent to welcome the new Mr. and Mrs. Walsdorf, and how excited everyone was!
The bride and groom chose three delicious stations for dinner service, the first being Chef TJ’s Famous Shrimp & Grits paired with Barbara’s Yam Biscuits. TJ cooked the delicious dish live in front of the guests, serving the shrimp, Cremini mushrooms, Heritage Farms Applewood smoked bacon, stone-ground cheese grits and his special sauce in a stemless martini glass.
Guests also had the option of filling their plates at our East vs. West NC BBQ Duo station. We love this station because guests can dress their smoked, slow-roasted pulled pork in Chef TJ’s award-winning, homemade Eastern NC vinegar sauce, our Western ketchup & brown sugar sauce, or both! Served with Pork Belly Hopping John, the BBQ was a huge hit!
Last but not least, we served Chicken Pesto with Tomato & Corn Salad and Haricot Vert. The combination of fresh off the cob corn, grape tomatoes and red wine vinaigrette perfectly complemented the savory Haricot Vert and free-range chicken dressed in spinach pesto.

After everyone ate to their heart’s content, Jorie, Brian and their loved ones danced the night away! Mr. and Mrs. Walsdorf were bid adieu with sparklers and embarked on their journey into happily ever after. It was a beautiful evening full of love and we are so thankful to have been a part of it!
