Wow, what a Winter Wonderland this was! Held at the American Tobacco Campus Full Frame Theater/Boiler Room in Durham, this Triangle NACE meeting was one for the books. The National Association for Catering and Events is made up of some of the Triangle’s most predominant event professionals in the industry. Their monthly meetings are not only educational, but they are networking productions. A very talented Joe Payne photographed the evening, capturing all of the excitement! Donovan’s Dish had the pleasure of taking part in this event, seamlessly catering to a winter picnic theme – just wait until you see all of the seasonal delights.
The unexposed brick and other industrial components brought unique character to the venue. The centerpieces, which were accentuated with elegant candles, were definite showstoppers.
The calm, neutral color scheme was offset by a colorful buffet of assorted finger foods. Chef TJ’s flavorsome Charcuterie display consisted of Spanish Chorizo and Sopressata, three local artisan cheeses, delectable cornichons, marinated olives, North Carolina honey, and a homemade Guinness wholegrain mustard. Simply amazing!
A delicious Tomato Bisque Soup Shooter was also stationed at the buffet, tempting guests with its fresh cut basil, applewood smoked bacon, and croutons. The Meatball Medley, consisting of Bourbon meatballs and Gobble Gobble meatballs, were a huge hit. The Chicken Rangoon, with its mix of sweet soy, cream cheese, and mandarin orange, was one of my personal favorites.
The Not Your Average Spinach and Artichoke Dip stayed true to its words, wowing everyone with its exquisite blend. As for the ham rolls, they could make you hungry by just looking at them! Their brown sugar touch made for the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
Even with all of this savory cuisine, the crowd gladly made room for the Sweet Tooth Display – because, well, who wouldn’t? The fudgy brownies were to die for, and the s’mores brought something quite special to the table. The airy marshmallows, Hershey’s chocolate, and crumbled graham crackers brought the campfire treats to you (without the sticky mess).
The whole night was a success, encompassing the richness of event planning and food. It can’t get much better than that!
